Creating Space
Creating space and depth in representational paintings can be a
challenge, but is very important because without this element paintings
are flat, boring and lifeless. In this workshop we will explore six ways
to create space and depth in your work, transforming the feeling of two
dimensions into three, and helping you to bring the illusion of reality
into your next painting.
This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
A light lunch, refreshments and materials are included in your course
fee, however please bring along your favourite sketchbook, paints and
brushes to work with if you can.

Temari Balls
Making temari balls is a Japanese craft that originated in China and
came to Japan around the 7th century A.D. Traditionally, temari were
given as gifts symbolizing deep friendship and loyalty and over the
years they evolved from a fairly basic form into exquisite works of art.
This workshop will introduce you to the craft of the temari using basic
herringbone stitch to create the traditional chrysanthemum design, or
one of the more modern geometric designs.
Learn the basic techniques of making a simple temari ball which you may
finish during the workshop or which will be advanced enough for you to
finish at home.
This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.
A light lunch, refreshments, and materials are included in your course
fee, but please bring with you any embroidery threads and yarns that you
may particularly wish to use.
