Introduction to Straw Marquetry

Spend a day learning an increasing rare heritage craft. Straw marquetry is the art of forming a decorative panel using flattened slithers of straw. Join Anne Dyer for this beginners’ workshop learning basic marquetry skills. Anne will show you how to prepare your straw and then how to work with both inlay and onlay techniques.

During the day you may choose to make a small butterfly or bird which you could use to decorate a greetings card or the top of a small box. Straw is an incredibly versatile material and can be used to make designs that are both modern and historical so once you have learnt the techniques the sky is your limit!

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to improve their marquetry skills.
