A three day course learning the techniques of box construction in brass or copper sheet. You will create a soldered container with a lipped lid in a polished or satin finish.

Day One:  Using paper, experiment with scale and form until the desired box shape is chosen - the options will be round/oval/square or rectangular. Translate these proportions onto sheet metal and begin to construct your box.

Day Two:  Box construction continued: learn how to measure, cut, score, anneal and bend sheet metal. The tutor will demonstrate how to solder curved and straight joins and how to create a tightly fitting lip into the lid.

Day Three: Completion of all projects with the option of including an inlaid pattern in to the lid if desired.

Tutor will supply enough materials to make one small box. This cost is included in your course fee.

If students have any hand tools or materials that they wish to bring along, please do so.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

An introduction to the amazing qualities of silver clay.

Learn how to design and create one or two pieces of unique silver jewellery.

Choose from a selection of items, maybe a ring, a pendant or a pair of earrings, creating each piece to your own design and specifications. Lots of samples will be available for inspiration.

You will learn how to prepare and handle your silver clay, discovering the versatility of this medium through rolling, texturing and cutting techniques.

You will be shown how to combine both clay and fireable stones, how to prepare your pieces for firing and how to professionally finish your work to a high standard.

Your tutor will provide you with enough silver clay to make one item ( or one pair of earrings) of jewellery. This cost is included in your course fee. If you wish to make more than one item, extra silver clay may be purchased from your tutor on the day.

If you wish to use fireable stones in your design this will be an extra cost which, depending on the amount used, can be discussed with your tutor.

If you wish to have a trace chain or ear wires for your jewellery, an extra fee of approx £8, will be payable to the tutor on the day.

Learn the beautiful and ancient technique of Etruscan silver chain making and make a simple bracelet complete with a silver hand made or ready made toggle clasp. Start by learning how to make links with copper wire to practise your weave and then move on to silver wire to make your bracelet. Finish by adding your chosen fastening.

There is a materials cost of £20 included in your course fee which will enable you to make one silver bracelet
