JEWELLERY & SILVERSMITHING

Bronze Clay Jewellery

Bronze clay is a form of metal clay that can be sculpted just like a clay then fired to form solid metal pieces. With a good amount of clay to play with you can make small sculptures, or larger statement pieces of jewellery during this fun workshop.

During the day you will learn to mix the clay to prepare it for use, as it comes in powder form, then roll, texture, mould and sculpt pieces. You will then learn to file and sand the pieces to make them ready for the kiln. Embellish your pieces with stones if you like before firing.

Due to the nature of the clay and the 2-phase firing process, the pieces will have to be taken away to fire and polish overnight, then returned to the college to collect within a few days.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already have metal clay experience.

All materials, a light lunch and refreshments are included in the workshop fee. Chains are available at an additional cost on the day if wanted.

Make a Spinner Ring

Spend a day learning how to create a beautiful spinner ring.

First you will make a straight-sided silver band to a size of your choice and a separate ‘spinner’
in brass or copper. Bring the two together using a magical technique that makes the inner ring unfurl and flute to capture the spinner whilst still allowing it to twirl.

The completed ring will be ready for you to wear or give as a gift by the end of the day.

This course is suitable for complete beginners or improvers.

A light lunch, refreshments and all materials to make one spinner ring are included in the course fee.
