Wooden Spoon Carving
This one day workshop will cover the whole process of carving a useable
spoon in wet or ‘green’ wood, from harvesting the timber in a
sustainable way to making the finished item using widely available,
basic hand tools. You will learn basic spoon-carving techniques with the
axe and knives, and should complete at least one finished spoon which
will need to dry before use.
This workshop is suitable for all skill levels, from complete beginners
to accomplished woodcarvers.
All materials, a light lunch and refreshments are included in the
workshop fee.

Introduction to Relief Wood Carving
Spend a day learning the basic skills used in relief woodcarving,
including laying out of the design, setting-in, carving technique, tool
selection and sharpening. This takes place in a relaxed and positive,
can-do atmosphere with close supervision and plenty of demonstration.
Participants will be guided through a simple project of their own design
with a view to complete in one day.
By the end of the day you will take home a complete, or near-complete
carving of your own, as well as an understanding of the tools and
techniques needed to continue your own woodcarving in the future.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with
some woodcarving experience.
All materials, a light lunch and refreshment is included in the workshop
fee.
