Watercolour Workshop – Capturing The Essence

Explore a range of aspects of watercolour painting. A combination of demonstration and instruction will give you techniques to create vivid and lively images. On this workshop we will be looking at capturing the essence of your chosen subject. Explore how to pick out and represent those elements of your subject which are the most exciting, giving your painting more interest and atmosphere.

Drawing – Pen And Wash

Drawing is a great way to record, relax and prepare for a painting. Add a colour wash to the mix and it brings a sketch to life.

You will be shown a variety of techniques and different ways of how to approach your work. Further experimentation will enable you to work quickly and enjoyably towards achieving a satisfactory result.

On this workshop we will be looking at various images including a cityscape, still life with flowers and a seascape with a rocky shoreline.

Tutor will provide all materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

An Introduction to Silver Clay

Discover the amazing qualities of silver clay. During this half day workshop you will design and make a simple silver pendant or pair of earrings. You will learn a variety of techniques including rolling, texturing and shaping on the mould. After firing you will burnish your work and then, if you wish to, add either earring findings or a chain to finish.

There is a cost included in your course fee for enough silver clay to enable you to make one simple pendant or a pair of earrings. If you require more clay for extra pieces this extra cost will be payable to your tutor on the day. Your tutor will also bring along chains, beads and headpins which can be purchased if required.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Silver Clay Charm Bracelet

Create a simple silver charm bracelet or anklet on this half day workshop which is designed to introduce you to the amazing qualities of silver clay.

Learn how to handle the clay and then practise rolling out, texturing and cutting. You will be shown how to use moulds to create your charms and then how to sand and prepare your work for firing. After the firing process, polish and prepare your work before attaching to a simple silver chain.

There is a cost included in your course fee for enough silver clay to enable you to make one simple charm bracelet or anklet .If you require more clay for extra pieces this extra cost will be payable to your tutor on the day.

Gel Plate Printing

Spend the day experimenting with the exciting technique of gel plate printing. Create prints on paper using acrylic paint and a variety of found objects to make patterns then layer with stencils to create exciting colourful images. We will use a range of papers and experiment with chine-colle and adding text.  You will learn about how to use different paints and inks to get a range of effects and either make your own stencils or use pre-prepared ones. The resulting papers can be standalone art pieces or used in a myriad of craft and art projects.

Tutor will supply the basic materials required for this workshop. This cost is included in your  fee.

An Introduction to Shibori
NEW DATE ADDED

Shibori is the traditional Japanese craft of manipulating fabric to create intricate patterns. Combine this with indigo dyeing to develop wonderful  effects in all shades of blue on natural fabrics.

You will learn some of the history and practice of shibori and the process for using indigo as a dye. Combine folding, twisting and binding techniques with the dyeing process to create a selection of unique fabric samples to start you on your shibori journey.

Tutor will provide some materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee. There will also be a small selection of materials for you to purchase on the day.

An Introduction To Enamelling For Jewellery
NEW DATE ADDED

Enamelling is the art of fusing glass to metal.

Explore colour and develop stunning surface designs using a variety of decorative, enamelling techniques onto copper. Learn how to use a small kiln to fire your work, creating your own individual pieces of simple jewellery.

You will be shown how to finish these to a professional standard.

Your tutor will supply the materials and jewellery findings to enable you to complete one item of jewellery, maybe a pendant, a pair of earrings or a brooch. This cost is included in your course fee. Should you wish to make more than one item, there will be an extra charge for materials which will be payable to your tutor on the day.
