Spend the day learning this dynamic way of printing and produce personalised cards and gift tags for the festive season and special occasions. Students will use their own design or image to produce one lino cut for a gift tag and one for a card . Learn about transferring your own designs onto lino, which tools to use, safe cutting techniques and how to use a small printing press.

SILVER JEWELLERY IN A DAY
COURSE FULL

Ever thought about making a unique piece of jewellery for that special someone in your life?

Spend a day learning simple techniques to produce your own metal jewellery. Practise tool use and model-making in copper first, then lose yourself in the magical process of turning silver into unique pieces of jewellery before your very eyes! Create one or two beautiful pieces of
simple jewellery to take home.

There is a cost of £10 for silver included in your course fee. Should you wish to make extra pieces of jewellery on the day, you will need to pay your tutor for any extra silver that you may use.

Paper Angels

Two techniques will be explored to make decorative paper angels based around reinforced poppy seed-heads:

• Using the Japanese momugami technique to manipulate paper and to create a new texture and appearance,

• Using eco-printing to transfer intricate leaf images onto paper.

You will go home with a completed momugami angel, and the materials and simple instructions to complete the remaining angels.

Tutor will provide all materials, including poppy seed-heads, paper and plant material for eco-printing. These are included in your course fee.

Festive Angel Tea Light

Create your own festive figures using jewel-like coloured glass and copper foiling. This is often
referred to as the 'Louis Tiff any' technique. Learn how to cut and shape your glass and how to grind the edges in preparation for foiling and soldering to create a 3D tea light. If angels are not your style, a Father Christmas tea light could be made instead.

Bath and Body Products

A day to indulge in making luscious bath and body products.

In the morning, investigate anhydrous salves and balms made with beautiful butters, oils and waxes. In the afternoon we will turn our attention to salts, milks and scrubs, all made using natural ingredients and fragranced with pure essential oils or allergen-free fragrances. You will create several products to take home. A heavenly day of deliciousness!

The workshop fee includes ingredients and packaging to make one example of each of the products outlined in the course description. If students would like to make additional examples of the products, then a small fee will be payable on the day to cover the extra ingredients and packaging.

Silver Clay - Festive Jewellery

Using silver clay, design and make two or three small, simple items of jewellery.  Whether you wish to make festive themed items or more classic pieces, the choice is yours. Discover the versatility of this medium through rolling, texturing and cutting techniques. Learn how to combine both clay and fireable stones, how to prepare your pieces for firing and how to professionally finish your work to a high standard.

You will be provided with enough silver clay to make a small pendant and a pair of small earrings or similar. This cost is included in your fee.  If you wish to add stones, jewellery findings, earring wires or a trace chain, these will be extra and the cost will be payable to your tutor on the day.

Silver Clay - Holly leaves

Discover the amazing properties of silver clay. This half day workshop is a gentle introduction to this incredibly versatile medium.

Using a real holly leaf as your base, learn how to paste, fire and polish the clay to create a unique, real silver pendant.  If you wish, you can add small silver berries and then add colour to further enhance your work.

You will be provided with enough silver clay to make your holly leaf necklace. This cost is included in your fee. If you wish to add jewellery findings or a trace chain, these will be extra and the cost will be payable to your tutor on the day.

Festive Willow Wreath and Trees

Spend the morning making a wonderful willow wreath and a small festive tree or two. Learn how to use a traditional or random weave for your tree and decorate as you choose. You will also make a solid willow wreath base that can be decorated with a mixture of living or dried plants and flowers or maybe just a garland of tiny lights. Handmade soaps are a delight, even more so if you have made them yourself. Come and join us, melting, stirring and pouring our way to the perfect, cold process, traditional soap.

On this workshop you will be creating the amazing Taiwan soap swirl which is both beautiful and surprisingly simple to master.  Why not add some delicious fragrances such as orange and mint to enhance that festive feeling.  You will each create a 500gms batch of soap (equivalent to approximately 6 standard bars of soap).

Festive Table Centre

Create your own floral centre pieces to adorn your table at Christmas. You will be shown how to use a range of floristry techniques combining both natural and artificial materials to create a design suitable for various positions. Candles and other decorative Christmas decorations may also be included.

Flowers and materials are not included.  Your tutor will supply a list of flowers which are seasonally available and suitable for you to use.  

There will be a small selection of materials such as ribbons, wires and candelabra containers available to purchase from your tutor on the day.

Festive Wreaths

A fabulous seasonal wreath is always a great way to welcome people into your home over the festive season.

Learn how to prepare a traditional round mossed base which you will decorate with foliage, natural materials and ribbons and accessories of your choice.

Materials are not included.  Why not forage for your own natural materials such as foliage, fruit, pine cones and dried seed-heads or adding small bundles of cinnamon sticks and bay leaf sprigs.

Your tutor will have a small selection of materials that you can purchase on the day. A pack of basic foundation materials will cost £7.00.
