Create a personal glass postcard of your favourite place or scene using coloured glass powders and crushed glass frits. Explore ways to create layers, texture and depth with transparent and opaque glass using brushwork and drawing techniques. COLOURFUL DECORATIONS

Come and have fun making glass gifts for your family or to hang on your Christmas tree! Make a colourful glass angel, Christmas robin or a colourful tea light votive. Learn the traditional techniques of cutting glass, copper foiling and soldering together to make your wonderful creations.

BEGINNERS BEADWORK

Course full

An introduction to the exciting art of making beautiful glass beads through the process of lampwork. Learn how to melt glass in a flame and through simple exercises create a small selection of simple beads. Enhance these with some basic surface decoration and, after cooling, you will be shown how you can string your work onto a simple bracelet or necklace.

TEALIGHTS AND DECORATIONS

During this festive fused glass workshop, you will cut and assemble coloured sheet glass and experiment with glass frit, stringers and confetti to make beautiful Christmas decorations. You will also make a fused glass panel for a tealight, using coloured glass powders. Clear glass tealight bases will be supplied by your tutor. All work made during the day will need to be fired and collected at a later date.

GLASS BATIK

Batik Glass is an exciting technique conceived by Swedish glass artist Lena Beckéus. Fresh from attending a course with Lena, Jennifer Brewer will teach you the basics of the batik technique using bullseye glass. Using a combination of powders, frits and micas along with a selection of tools, you will be able to create up to six , 7cms square colourful tile samples. These will be fired and ready for collection at a later date.

LAMPWORK BEADMAKING

Take your basic lampwork bead making skills further. This workshop gives you the opportunity to practise your new skills enabling you to create the basic bead shapes. Through careful guidance you will work on perfecting your techniques and make a small set of matching simple beads. Student numbers will be capped at 4 to offer intensive tuition.

HAVE A GO MOSAIC

Course full

Learn how to create your very own mosaic panel. You will be shown how to apply tesserae and the techniques of using mosaic nippers, adhesives and grouts. You will be delighted with the results and take home an impressive A4 sized mosaic.

FUSED GLASS AND INCLUSIONS

Explore the possibilities of combining decorative inclusions with fused glass. Experiment with copper sheet and wire, delicate metal leaf and sparkly mica powders to make a number of pieces that can be made into coasters, small panels or jewellery. 3D MOSAIC

Ever thought about creating a unique garden ornament in mosaic? This workshop will give you the skills, techniques and knowledge on how to create weather resistant sculptures for the outdoors. Your tutor will supply all the materials that you need to make a small bird bath/feeder or an ornamental garden orb. You could also take this opportunity to begin your own project.
