INTRODUCTION TO MOSAIC

Learn how to create your very own mosaic panel. You will be shown how to apply tesserae and the techniques of using mosaic nippers, adhesives and grouts. You will be delighted with the results and take home an impressive A4 sized mosaic. Both workshops are suitable for anyone from beginners to advanced.

SCULPTURAL LAMPWORK

Course full

An introduction to the exciting technique of sculptural lampwork. Through simple exercises, learn how glass behaves in the flame and how to control it with heat and gravity . You can then go on to make small sculptural pieces such as flowers, fish and small animals. Student numbers on these workshops will be capped at four to offer intensive and focused tuition.

INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS

An introduction to the skills behind the craft of church windows. Have a fast but fun filled day learning how to use coloured glass, lead cames, solder and leaded light cement to create your own wonderful small panel to take home.

CHINA MOSAIC

Bring along your collection of broken pieces of pottery and china and learn the techniques of cutting and applying them into a mosaic. Create a small plaque or decorate a terracotta pot for your garden or home.

SANDED AND STAINED PANEL

An exciting new two day course incorporating sanded and stained glass. Learn how to use a sandblaster to add visual texture and interest to your glass. Experiment with textured resists to form images on coloured and mirrored glass which can then be combined into a leaded or copper foiled panel .

LAMPWORK BEADMAKING

An introduction to the exciting art of making beautiful glass beads through the process of lampwork. Learn how to melt glass in a flame, and through simple exercises create your beads. Enhance these with some basic surface decoration and then string together into a simple bracelet or necklace. Student numbers on these workshops will be capped at four to offer intensive and focused tuition.

STAINED GLASS WITH FUSING

This exciting course combines two glass disciplines, showing you how to incorporate fused glass into a leaded panel. On day one, you will design your panel and cut the fused glass elements ready for firing overnight. On day two, you will learn the traditional stained glass techniques. Working with lead and soldering you will combine all pieces into a beautiful panel.

GLASS POSTCARDS

Create a personal glass postcard of your favourite place or scene using coloured glass powders and crushed glass frits. Explore ways to create layers, texture and depth with transparent and opaque glass using brushwork and drawing techniques. You will complete two panels which will be fired and ready for collection at a later date.
