SUMINAGASHI

The earliest form of marbling originating in Japan over 800 years ago.
Sumi (ink) and nagashi (floating) describe the process of applying ink to the surface of water then taking a print on paper. The process is elegant and simple requiring some patience and mindfulness! You will look at which paper, brushes, ink and surfactant are suitable and create papers that can be used for book covers, cards, origami and many other uses.
